Taros 4 – Available from today
7 April 2026Centralised palletising with 4 high-infeed layer palletisers at Nestlé Nespresso
We partnered with Nestlé Nespresso once again to bring into existence a centralised palletising system, chosen for its efficiency and standardisation in the palletising process. In addition, flexibility regarding pallet types and user-friendliness of the Taros palletiser were important reasons.
The centralised palletising system’s main feature are the four back-to-back Taros layer palletisers. Each high-level infeed palletiser, with integrated slip sheet applicator, is capable of handling up to 60 products per minute. The upstream product flow runs via case transport conveyors, complemented with spiral conveyors to reach the infeed height and clear the floor for uninterrupted movement of people, fork trucks and AGVs (automated guided vehicles). The entry conveyor is fitted with inline turning units, allowing the products to be turned 90 or 180 degrees. The Taros layer palletiser can arrange products in different patterns, and is compatible with various pallet types, allowing for easy switchovers between product and orders.
All four Taros palletisers are connected to two shuttle cars, for the infeed of empty pallets and the outfeed of full pallets, with a capacity of 90 pallets per hour. The system is designed with the future in mind and can be extended to up to 10 Taros palletisers, warranting the overall shuttle car capacity. The shuttle car setup is also equipped with a lateral stabilisation system to secure the pallets on their way to the stretch wrapper. Five destackers including buffer are connected to the shuttle cars, to accommodate five different pallet types simultaneously. Empty pallet stacks and slip sheets are automatically replenished by the customer’s AGVs via our interfaces. Downstream, two high-speed stretch wrappers wrap the pallets, and they’re provided with labels on the front and side. From here all pallet information is shared with the customer’s MES interface.
CSi and Nestlé Nespresso have partnered up once again for this project. Previously, in 2014, CSi was also the chosen palletising partner for an end-of-line palletising system in hall 1. Last year, with the increasing production of Vertuo and Original coffee capsules, the need for a 2nd production hall arose. Now, in two out of three of their production facilities, a CSi palletising system ensures smooth and reliable material flow, empowering Nestlé-Nespresso to produce their delicious coffee capsules.
