Celebrating 60 years of CSi palletising
31 January 2024The beginning of CSi
15 February 2024PepsiCo has a plant in Veurne, Belgium, where they produce Doritos. In the past, CSi has placed an automatic palletising system at Veurne including three C5000 high speed palletisers and a multi-load buffer deck.
With years of good service, we got the opportunity to provide a brand new palletising system for the PepsiCo Veurne plant. After thorough consultation with the customer and carefully mapping their wishes, we have created a setup that makes the production process even more efficient and effective. Seamless integration with the existing system ensures PepsiCo’s production runs like clockwork, 24/7.
The new system
Boxes come from various parts of the factory and are consolidated onto one central supply conveyor. A scanner checks the box’s barcode and verifies if it is properly sealed. In the case of an open flap or an unreadable barcode, the box is directed to a reject lane, where it undergoes manual inspection and correction. The box is then reintroduced into the system.
Approved boxes are sorted to the pickpoint designated beforehand via the central control panel. There are a total of four LINEx robot cells, each robot can simultaneously palletise four different SKU’s (four pickpoints). This means PepsiCo has the opportunity to palletise up to 16 different SKU’s simultaneously.
Empty pallets are brought in, and full pallets are taken away by a shuttle car. Full pallets are automatically wrapped with stretch film and labelled. The pallets are then ready to go on transport.
We would like to thank PepsiCo Veurne for the opportunity to work together once again. It is always great to work on different projects with a welcoming and professional customer such as PepsiCo. Engineering, producing and installing this system with and for the enthusiastic people has been a very nice experience. We look forward to contributing to more PepsiCo projects in the future.
