The Flexible
Factory
Meeting dynamic market demands
A glimpse into a flexible future
The ever-growing power of e-commerce, supermarkets and just-in-time delivery is driving factories to operate differently. They are pushed to offer mixed palletising, which allows efficient packing of multiple products on a single pallet, reducing rework or co-packing at the end of the line or further in the supply chain. This requires new technologies to handle at manufacturers of FMCG/CPG products.
At the end of the production line, the routing on the factory floor also becomes flexible. Think about different routes to storage or direct loading in trucks and different finishing parameters like wrap foil, shrink hoods or straps. By introducing new technologies as autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), it becomes fast and easy to handle these flexible routes.
CSi is working on innovative solutions in this field. In our story on supply chain flexibility, we’ll explore mixed palletising and AMRs in greater detail. We will highlight the technologies, challenges and impact on your day to day operation.
